What are the symptoms of OUD?

I have been prescribed hydrocodone for 12 years for my moderate to severe back issues and in the last 10 months a new doctor has just up an decided to pull me of a working solution that took almost 20 years of trial an error of medications leaving me with a large list on my med records of medications that offered no releif to side effects to even some dangerous interactions. Why is it that doctors today are constantly messing with those of us who are responsible an take our medications as prescribed an have, well for me 12 years of no addiction signs at all. Which is, is everyone who is being prescribed opioids an OUD patient? I have read no as the whole idea behind addiction is taking more than you are prescribed and it is effecting life, job an relationships. Right now I have lost my mobility or ability to remain active to being limited to a recliner an trouble getting up an down my stairs for a start. I mentioned this to a new doctor a few days ago an she either could or would not answer it.

  1. Thank you. It does suck as no matter how you tell them they are hurting you ans your life they continue to only see that as you are just looking for your drugs. Yet no alternative options given.

  2. I forgot to mention i am now less than 1/3 of what I was on prior to the 10 months an do I crave it? Well I crave my mobility back where I am not able to do the things I could do a year ago. I am a person who at times I will overdue my limits while I am doing an activity an now i do not. I want my life back as I hate being laid up or in pain just getting up in the morning. I was told my back issues are non surgical an physical therapy is a waste of time. All these doctors are focused on is my pain issue yet show no interest in my other which includes a recent type 2 diabetes diagnosis. 6 months later an I still have gotten no help with that other than throwing a medication called metformin at 1000mg. I was told I need to start exercising which completely is not possible at this time but yet they would rather throw medications that are clearly documented that cause dude effects or interactions with me. This new doctor immediately start throwing syboxone at me yet my records show that it causes severe headaches which I only can describe as painful as if my skull is being pulled from my spine. Yet they continuously try. I was tried on this for pain management yet it failed as well to relieve any pain as well.

    1. Ugh that sounds like a really rough experience. Especially when you've found something that seems to be working for you and being on that treatment for a while. I can understand how frustrating that could be. And now that you're dealing with an increase of symptoms that is really unfortunate. You are certainly not the first person to share here how doctors have become more stringent on pain management, but it is unfortunate to hear that you were on a plan that was really giving you relief and you went through 20 years of trial-and-error to get there. - Jake (Team Member)
