Nothing works for pain anymore!

My name is Lydia and I started using heroin in my teens, went to rehab a couple of times, got clean with bupenorphine and stayed on it for 12 years. I relapsed in 2020 and put myself into rehab again (for the last time) and successfully completed treatment last year. I currently still take bupenorphine. I am 40 this year and I've had a lot of pain that has been flaring up especially in my hip area and legs. My doctor prescribed me gabapentin and it does not work. I'm getting an xray done to see the root cause of the pain, but honestly I've noticed even for a headache, pain meds do not touch my pain of any kind!!! Any advice? Its so frustrating and I feel like I have the tolerance of a horse. Sometimes the gabapentin and the subs do work ok together but I'm not sure i want to be on subs and a high dose of something I could possibly abuse. Any advice is welcome thank you!!!

  1. Thank you sooo much i really appreciate ur response!!!

    1. Hi , thank you for opening up about this. It sounds so exhausting to be dealing with constant pain, especially after everything you’ve been through to get to where you are now. I can hear how much you care about protecting your recovery while also wanting relief.

We’re not medical professionals here, so we can’t give medical advice, but I hope others will share what’s helped them manage pain while on buprenorphine. I’m glad you’re getting an X-ray to check what’s going on. Please keep us posted, and know we’re here to support you however we can. -Jessica, Team Member
