Stopping opioids after 25 years

I stopped taking 6 pain scripts for 25 yrs to one Fioricet every 6 hours it’s been 8months but I still have cravings how long before they stop?

  1. Not to pry into it but could you explain why you stopped them? We're addicted to them,? I am sorry an apologize as the doctors today want to place everyone who is prescribed opioids as a OUD candidate. Did you have originally , when you were prescribed them? Now I had been on fioricet for nearly 20 years until they stopped it when I had my first stroke in 2019 as i get approx 15 migraines each month.

  2. That's an incredible accomplishment going from 6 pain scripts for 25 years down to one Fioricet every six hours! Eight months is a huge milestone, and it's completely understandable to still experience cravings.

Cravings are a tricky part of this journey, and how long they last is unique for everyone. They can sometimes linger for a while, even after the physical withdrawal passes. Please keep us updated on how you're managing and stay well! -Jessica, Team Member

    1. This is very true I was taking off a boxy's and Xanax in earlier this year and I am still craving the relief that gave me in the beginning but in the end it wasn't helping my pain

    2. Agh yes it can be a pretty difficult process, especially with those cravings popping up. When they took you off, did they make any other recommendations? - Jake (Team Member)
