Tips for under medicated in TN.

So I moved from NY to TN and the opiates are very hard to get here and not paid for by insurance. In NY I took double the meds givin here with no problems for over 10 yrs and here ive been let go of 2 clinics for missed appt and a few short pills. I was actually discharged 4 days after rotator cuff surgery because I picked up the 18 extra meds my surgeon gave me now I need a new referral and have to start this all over again with a new dr. Any tips ?

  1. Hey - Welcome to the page here. Sounds like a significant move from NT to TN. Hope it was as smooth as possible, but yes switching up providers can be pretty tough especially when moving across state lines. Have you been able to find a new doctor yet? I am not a medical provider so I can't give you direct medical advice, but of course I'd suggest looking into your local options for providers in your area to get the conversations stated - but sounds like you have a decent amount of experience working with healthcare providers when you were in NY. We also have an article here about the frustrations many people living with chronic pain have experienced trying to get appropriate care. I thought you might relate to a lot of what’s discussed: https://opioid-use-disorder.com/living/chronic-pain-care. - Jake (Team Member)
